Is it to early to get ready for canning?

OK so I am a planner. I like to have all my ducks in a row before anything. If I have to stop in the middle of a project, it tends to not be finished for a while. Which when it comes to canning just plain doesn’t work.

So about this time, after I have planned my garden and I’m prepared there, I move on to my canning supplies.

I check my jars and for any problems (cracks, chips, etc.). I make sure I have plenty of lids. I use a combination of Tattler reusable lids, and the ball disposable lids. I check my rings to make sure there is no rust. If I need to purchase more I keep an eye out for sales. I do prefer to buy all my canning stuff on sale, which is why I start earlier than later so I have time to wait for sales.

I started this year to check out all the different stores and take pictures of prices so I know which store is the best cost wise. I am currently still working on it. I’ll keep you updated.

The other things I make sure I have are sure-jel, cheese cloth, label maker tape, sugar, clear-jel, and food saver bags. All items I need for my canning adventures. So still being a beginner canner, I’m still wondering if I am missing something. So tell me fellow canners, what is something you can’t live without come canning season?
