Strawberries

This week my boys and I went to the strawberry field and picked.  I love how sweet my oldest was with his little brother. He keep teaching him about which ones to pick and leave behind. It really worked too we only had a few that weren’t any good!

Now when I started canning I made strawberry jam. It tasted amazing but didn’t keep its color. So after awhile they turned more brown.  Still tasted great but the color turned people off. Bummer!!

So I stopped canning anything strawberry. I didn’t want to spend any time making something that wouldn’t be eaten.

But I felt like giving it another try. Look at this beautiful color!

I used sure gel for this jam and followed the recipe that came in the box.  I however do not skim the foam off the top. I know I’m such a rebel.

So my first batch of fruit canning has now taken place and these views will be a common one just with different colors.

This is how the final product turned out.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay this amazing color!
