Well, I started this post about 2 weeks ago and haven’t had a chance to publish it. So now I have time and you will be getting two posts this weekend. My family had a reunion in Avalon, NJ. So we were gone for a week. We are lucky enough to have awesome neighbors who watered every other day for us.
The tomatoes were getting started when we left. There were some cherry tomatoes on the vine.
The squash and zucchini had a rough started this year. A lot of the seeds didn’t grow or were dug up by animals. The ones that did were small.
The watermelons were starting to grow but again it was a slow start. Our lettuce didn’t grow at all this year which made me sad. hopefully this fall we will have better luck. The trees grew a lot last year I guess and we have way more shade then I was expecting. the strawberries produced for us nicely and are still growing beautifully. I do believe we should get another harvest from them at the end of summer.
Our pepper plants seem to be happy. I have already picked and am looking forward to as many peppers as I can get!
Our cucumber plants seems happy this year. they were small when we left and grew a lot while we were gone. I had some training to do when I got home to get them up the support system.
OH and our CORN!!! yep Hubby got it in the ground at the right time this year. It was knee-high by the 4th of July, as the saying goes. Cant wait to see what happens from here on out.
Basil is looking good, hopefully I will be able to make up pesto this year with my 4 basil plants.
It there was some really hot weather while we were gone but the garden is looking great.
Hubby also planted sunflowers this year as a way to hopefully bring in more pollinators. I was not looking forward to them to be honest, I don’t know why. but I am enjoying looking out my window and seeing how much they have grown.
Happy Growing all!
