Venison Meatballs

These meatballs are easy and flavorful they also tend to disappear quickly. My hubby is a hunter and got a deer during bow season. So, I have been learning how to cook the venison. I was very worried that knowing what I was eating would make me not like it. So I asked for advice, it was a resounding LOTS of seasoning. However, I have found that the deer hubby got does not have a gamey taste. It is very mild and only needs normal amount of seasoning. That being said this recipe could easily be done with beef or a combination of meats.

Now as you, if you have read my blog before, my kiddos can be very picky. I was a little worried they would not like the venison at all. However, they have been eating it as burgers, a roast, tacos, meatloaf, these meatballs and pretty much any of my regular beef dishes.

So I LOVE pasta, in any form. Hubby LOVES meat. He really only eats spaghetti because he knows I love it (insert mushy awwwww here). So I figured out a compromise, I make him meatballs and he has the spaghetti as a side.

This recipe is pretty easy and comes together quickly. I like to cook my meatballs in two different ways. For these pictures I did stovetop, more labor intensive than option two. To be perfectly honest option two is my normal go to … in the oven. For the oven you just cook them until cooked through.

So you start by dumping all but the last four ingredients into a bowl and mixing together. Then form 1 inch balls, I use a kitchen scoop so they all are an even size.

Cook in a Dutch oven with olive oil and butter over medium heat turning regularly to cook through.

Add in the spaghetti sauce, I do my signature clean the jar with 1/2 cup water ( really hate to waste sauce). Cook the spaghetti noodles according to the directions and enjoy! Like I said EASY!!!
