Celebrating Halloween

We were able to spend time with my parents this holiday. I was worry that Halloween would be cancelled but it wasn’t so that was wonderful. My parents have come to our house for the last couple of years to help with passing out candy while we took the boys around. Our older son has gone with just his friends for a couple of years now, so it was just while we took around our youngest.

This year my youngest was allowed to go with a friend, and he voted for hubby to go with him not me this year. Insert pretend tears because while I love seeing the decorations and the costumes, I dislike our usual cold/windy/rainy weather. So, I planned to hand out candy. No go, my oldest decided that he wanted to pass out candy. But that means I got to visit with my family and watch my favorite Halloween Movie – Hocus Pocus. Win Win!

Dinner was grilled cheese and apple slices for the boys. Then the adults enjoyed White Chicken Chili, Cornbread, and Chocolate Chip Yellow Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting. We also were able to enjoy some homemade hot cocoa. Which is something I make every year  and it is so good. I also make it for Christmas.

We got a quite a few trick or treaters and even some older ones than normal which really made me smile. It was nice to see all the trick or treaters. Then when it was all done hubby checked the weather and saw it was going to rain over night so we pulled all the decorations so we could put them away today which worked out great, but now the front yard looks so empty. I got used to seeing it all decorated.

Oh well. On to the next Holiday. Thanksgiving … MMMMMM … Mashed potatoes, Turkey, Stuffing, Green Beans, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Bars, Pecan Pie, Cranberry Sauce.

You know I should really make a thanksgiving meal, on a smaller scale, other times in the year its so good!!!
